March 2012 – Jam de la Crème Festival 2012 takes place on saturday July 28th, Strandtent Buiten!
Jam de la Crème is a concept where musicians from different genres and cultures come together on stage to improvise live. Inspiration, excitement, expertise without ego and above all creativity are the keys to a Jam de la Crème session. Yearly, we organize the Jam de la Crème Festival on the Scheveningen beach (The Hague, Holland). Last summer at the festivals’ fifth sold-out edition, around a hundred musicians shared the stage and created a crossover of pop, jazz, rock, hip hop, electronics and other different styles of music.

How do foreign acts organize their tours, often residing in countries, which have no subsidies for performances overseas? How to find the right venues abroad? August 2011 – Jam de la Crème Festival, also known, as the largest jam session in The Netherlands was a great success! Hundred musicians started their journey towards The Hague’s beach to join one night of jamming! Before we started making the program, we asked all the musicians their ideal ‘jam line-up’ and every time we received answers, we were surprised, excited and above all inspired.
July 28th, a dutch newspaper published an article about the festival, based on an interview explaining the idea behind Jam de la Crème; It’s not particularly about the line-up, it’s about connecting different music scenes. With all the musical knowledge and experience, musicians will improvise, maybe even before they shake hands. Unexpected moments arise as a result of unprepared teamwork.
Special this year was a strong jazz representation that joined Jam de la Crème. A smaller scene then the pop music scene that challenged ears with the unknown.

Knalpot: www.knalpot.eu | Photo: Raoul Hilbink
Jam de la Crème, the largest jam session in the Netherlands, celebrates its 5-year anniversary on Saturday, 30 July with an extra large edition on Scheveningen beach.
More than 100 musicians – the crème de la crème of the music scene – representing all genres of music will come together under the direction of Vince van Reeken from Di-rect and Remco Visker (RemJam). The jam session will take place during the annual Jam de la Crème Festival, which will introduce a second stage for this special edition at Strandtent Buiten by the Zwarte Pad.
The first names confirmed for the unique jubilee evening are Schradinova , the noise band Bombay Show Pig , the young surf rock band Moore and the electronic progressive band Knalpot.
What’s special about the Jam de la Crème sessions is not only the number of participating musicians but that none of the jam sessions are rehearsed. It remains a surprise how the music will be improvised on the spot, also for the musicians themselves. The only constant factor during the Jam de la Crème jubilee evening is a series of performances by individual musicians which will alternate with the jam session.
